Once having kids Valentine's Day takes on whole new meaning. Kat was so excited for her party at school and everything involved in the day. We woke up to candy hearts from Daddy. ( top left) I made a Valentine's snack mix with rice chex, m&m's, white chocolate chips, peanut butter and powdered sugar. Scout Sunday is the one time of the year the church recognizes scouts. It is also a day the scouts can show thanks to the host church. My boys attended 3 services and held doors for people, passed out bulletins and met some of the parishioners. They even saw a favorite college football coach that attends their host church. I saw it as an opportunity to get some pictures of my handsome guys!

Francois the sloth bear is all kinds of awesome. We were amazed how he went barreling out to get his morning meal when his caretaker called his name. We watched him for close to 30 minutes. He decided to sit up and check us out for a little bit. He has so much personality for a sloth bear. Even though it is hard to compare since he is the only sloth bear we have met!

At the end of Daniel's story there were markers and postcards. Blake and Kat both wrote cards to Daniel to put in the mail box. Kat drew Daniel and his family. Blake wrote a very private card. He did give me a peek before he placed it in the box. It read "God bless the Jews"

There were a few tables set up for Chinese New Year at the museum. The kids are so interested in foreign language right now. They have learned Japanese so fast at karate. Blake's symbol in his name means violent storm that comes in quickly. So fitting for him. That makes me think we chose the perfect name for Blake.

The Museum of Natural History is by far the best museum for a 5 year old. Kat transformed into a botanist, a gemologist, a geologist and an entomologist all in 3 hour span. She pushed every button, read all she could and touched anything she was allowed to.

I found this in Kat's room over Christmas break. She is teaching herself Japanese from an app on the iPod touch. I have no clue what is says but I am impressed. I also downloaded a Spanish flash cards app and now she is walking around counting in Spanish. It is like living with a Hispanic rain man.

As I look on Pinterest for Valentine's Day ideas, I vow to never bake from scratch again. The kids got more enjoyment from the Pillbury cookies that you simply place on a baking sheet. No gathering ingredients, getting out the mixer, cracking eggs, melting butter or even greasing a baking sheet was involved. Just simply plop them down on a baking stone.

We had a situation last Sunday at our house. This kid showed me a glimpse of the man he is growing into. He took care if his younger brother and sister, the cats and anything else that needed taken care of. He showed them love and protection. Macy's put on a great preview party for the parade. We got an up close view of the balloons being inflated, enjoyed holiday music and balloons for the kids. This event definitely put our family in the holiday spirit. Thank you Macy's for making such a memorable Thanksgiving.

Hayden is wearing his Grandpa's Army jacket from Vietnam. He would not trade it for a Patagonia, North Face or Hollister coat. We decided to skip the insanity of the Rock Center Nintendo for Toys R Us in Times Square Yes, that sentence does not even make sense but the video game selection is bigger, better and less expensive. We celebrated Thanksgiving by taking the kids on the subway to Canal Street. We wanted them to experience the craziness of China Town and did not have reservations for a posh feast on the East side.
